OPERATIONAL MODULES Infraero, in order to meet the growing demand in passengers’ traffic, uses engineering solutions employed at airports in several countries to meet specific demands or large events. The Lisbon Airport in 2004, for example, used Modules during the 2006 Eurocup, the Doha Airport, in Qatar, adopted this solution for the Asian games. In 2010, it was South Africa turn to use them in the Soccer World Cup. Operational models are boarding and disembarkation systems that are similar to conventional lounges with every comfort, such as air-conditioning, toilets, flight information systems, among other facilities.
Operational Module is in operations already in the Brasilia Airport.
In Brazil, the airports of Brasilia, Florianopolis, Campinas, and Guarulhos have already made this space available. The other airports that will serve the 2014 World Cup counting on this solution to increase their capacities are:
• Brasilia Airport (Module 2)
- Module operation: passenger boarding - Investment: R$ 4.6 million - Dimension: 1,500m² - Capacity increase: one million passenger/year - Date foreseen for Conclusion: November/2011
