The carrying out engineering works at airports usually requires large movements of earth, from cuts and embankments. These activities cause undesirable imbalances to the environment, since they can contribute to the occurrence of different types of erosion. To repair the environmental damage caused by the construction processes required for the implementation of its projects and / or to meet the licensing requirements, Infraero has implemented remedial measures for mitigation and elimination of erosion and minimize the impacts caused by the degradation of these areas. Part of the set of programs that comprise Infraero’s Environmental Policy, the Soil and Plant Program aims to ensure environmental sustainability and the harmonic development of soil and flora components in the airport sites administered by the Company, restoring the desirable environmental balance and / or reducing the negative impacts caused by construction and/or expansion of its airport infrastructure. Besides the hiring of services for rehabilitation of degraded areas in several airports, Infraero has sought partnerships with research institutions such as Embrapa Solos, through the conclusion of terms of technical and financial cooperation under the commitment to work together in solving common problems. Through these partnerships, Infraero has tried using technologies and low cost alternative, giving priority to the use of materials available in the same area as the remains of works, bamboo, tree trunks, among others. The idea is that the soil and flora conservation and the identification and recovery of new degraded areas is carried out continuously at the company’s airports. |
