Energy Management

As a tool for managing power in its facilities, Infraero implemented a Computerized System for Managing Electric Power, which allows the monitoring of contracts for electricity from all airports of the company.

During the first 24 months of deployment, it was possible to store information essential for the effective management of energy contracts, providing support to managers of Infraero for decision making and setting strategies.

As an example of management information provided by the system, it is possible to learn that in 2009 the energy consumption in Infraero was of 493 GWh. Of this total, 15 airports account for 82% of energy consumption of the company.

Solar Energy

INFRAERO signed a Technical Cooperation with the University of Santa Catarina, Brazil to integrate airports in a perfect technology showcase, a clean and quiet generator capable of reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

 The project aims to conduct studies to determine the potential use of solar energy in the Infraero airports as alternative energy sources.

The scope of the services includes the assessment of costs for the implementation of projects to install photovoltaic solar generators and their technical and economic feasibility.

Hydropower

In January 2010, Infraero started the talks with the local City Hall and CEMIG for the implantation of CGH - Hydroelectric Generating Central at the Airport in Belo Horizonte (Pampulha), whose design is at the stage of technical feasibility study
