NAME - Aeronautical Meteorology Management The Management of Aeronautical Meteorology's mission is to plan, regulate and supervise the activity developed in Aeronautical Meteorology Infraero, technically and operationally assisting the Office of Air Navigation. Besides the provision of aviation weather service in airports for service to aviation, Infraero has other products and services for the general public: Information on weather conditions past and present, forecast future weather conditions, preparation of a Meteorological , Climatology and hydrology, through series of statistical data. Meteorological services directed to the areas of Engineering, Agriculture and Environment and weather forecasts for events and productions. PRODUCTS AND SERVICES WEATHER Information on weather conditions past and present There are several instruments that are used to collect meteorological data that are measurable: teleanemômetro, telebarômetro, telepsicrômetro, and telepluviômetro tetômetro, among others. Each instrument provides a kind of information: • teleanemômetro: direction, speed and peak wind speed; • telebarômetro: atmospheric pressure, reporting values of QNH, QFE and QFF; • telepsicrômetro: air temperature, relative humidity and dew point temperature; • telepluviômetro: amount of rainfall and, • tetômetro: coverage and cloud base height. The meteorological observations containing information about wind, air temperature, atmospheric pressure, precipitation and present time and their weather messages are handled by gazetted employees, called PMET (professional meteorology) and PNA (professionals to support air navigation) packed in 68 airports which is operated by the Air Navigation Infraero. Forecasts of future weather conditions The weather forecast elaborated in Infraero is widely used by aviation users (pilots and airmen), but anyone can request a weather forecast. Institutionally, the weather forecast prepared by Infraero called Aerodrome Forecast (TAF). The TAF is a code that contains a complete description of meteorological conditions to an aerodrome during the forecast period, including any change in the weather, considered significant for air operations. The periods of validity of the TAF begin at 0000, 0600, 1200 and 1800 UTC, and lasted 12, 24 or 30 hours, to meet the operational planning of flights to domestic and international carriers. The TAF is renewed every six hours. The weather forecasts are prepared by meteorologists (graduated in meteorology), allocated to the Meteorological Aerodrome Centers Class I (MAC-1) of the airports of Guarulhos / SP and the Galleon / RJ. Weather report The Report Weather is a document with legal value, which attests to the weather for a particular time and place. Typically, reports are requested by insurance companies or judges in the process of compensation, but any person may request a weather report. Climatology The climatology is a branch of meteorology that studies the climate. The statistical forecast is the set of values obtained from a series of data that produces Infraero and are organized into its database since 1984. Meteorological services directed to the areas of Engineering, Agriculture and Environment Infraero The client is Infraero aeronautical meteorology service provided by the Air Navigation. Usually information is requested of precipitation (for works) and prevailing wind (to build new runways at airports). This information is essential for these types of ventures. Other activities that may in any way be affected by weather conditions can request this information. Weather forecasts for events and productions Weather forecasts are made according to customer's needs, subject to the availability of information. They are prepared by meteorologists stationed at Guarulhos / SP and the Galeão / RJ. |
