Airport passed to Infraero administration in March 2006. The corporatioin signed an agreement with the State of Santa Catarina Government for rendering management, operation, exploitation, management, and infrastructure development services in that terminal. Until then, the airport was under State Government administration.
Located in the Municipality of Forquilhinha, close to highways SC-443 and SC-446 that interconnect the city of Criciuma with the towns of Forquilhinha, Meleiro, and other towns in the southern region of Santa Catarina, and with Federal highway BR-101, the airport will work as a facilitator agent for cargo and perishable produce yielding and to business tourism passengers transportation.
The airport passenger terminal has 529.54 square meters, boarding lounge with 84 square meters, disembarkation lounge with 27.5 square meters, check-in area with 30 square meters, public lobby with 178 square meters, eight aircrafts hangars, aircrafts fuel supply unit, a 12 square meters administration building, and a power house.
This is one more option in the modern airport infrastructure in country’s South, which has ten entrance gates managed by Infraero, seven of which are international airports.
Investments for improving passenger terminal, runway, and aircrafts ground area will be made in coming years.
