Jacarepagua

Jacarepagua Airport is located in the Lowlands of Jacarepagua, southwest region of Rio de Janeiro, approximately 30 km to downtown. The Lowlands of Jacarepagua is limited by the Atlantic Ocean and by the rock massif of ‘Pedra Branca’ (White Rock) and Tijuca. The airport has its area limited in the north by the Jacarepagua Lagoon, in the south by a biological reserve area of Rio de Janeiro Municipality (Woodland of Barra) and, east and west by third parties land.

The Jacarepagua/ Roberto Marinho – RJ Airport aims at servicing non-regular flights of air taxi firms, general aviation and the Air Club of Brazil. Currently, the airport due to its location is in evidence by big executive aviation entrepreneurs and for Offshore Transportation in view of oil drilling and extraction in the Pre-salt layer of Santos Basin.

Since the Pan-American Games, undertaken in 2007, the airport characteristics were changed radically. Airplanes traffic and passengers volume has grown in view of demand.
The passenger terminal that has six check-in counters distributed between five firms was expanded, air-conditioned, and modernized to better service clients. The terminal provide Wi-Fi (paid) access to users.
The night signaling (homologated) and a pressurized counter-fire network for greater security of night operations and emergency assistance were installed.
