The airport is located in a region that is famous for its important scientific-cultural collection that comprises paleontological and archeological discoveries, such as, for example, the most ancient human being skull of the Americas, which got the nickname of “Luzia”.  The 11. 5 thousand years old skull was found at the ‘Lapa Vermelha’ site, located approximately 2,700m from the headway 16 of the airport main runway.
